The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has explained why its report on a petition relating to key members of the National Cathedral of Ghana has stalled.
CHRAJ, in a letter dated June 27, 2024, addressed to the petitioner, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, said non-cooperation by one of the respondents had delayed the completion of the work.
“We are writing to inform all concerned that investigations into all material issues in the above matters before the Commission have been concluded by the Commission except for the information which the 5th Respondent/JNS TALENT CENTRE is yet to provide to the Commission,” the statement signed by the Chief Registrar, Mr Daniel Afetsi, read in part.
CHRAJ said it was preparing its report, adding that the JNS TALENT CENTER “has been informed that if the notified deadline for furnishing certain information lapses, the committee will proceed with its work and reach a conclusion without it.”
Ablakwa petitioned the CHRAJ in January 2023 alleging corruption and abuse of power in relation to certain expenditures made by the National Cathedral.
Respondents included the Minister of Finance, the Court of Auditors and the National Cathedrals Commission.
Others present included Pastor Victor Kusi Boateng, JNS Talent Centre Limited, Johannes Eshun and Sheila Eshun.
“CHRAJ update on my complaint against Pastor Victor Kusi Boateng/Mr Kwabena Addo Gyamfi of 17th January 2023. It has been discovered that Mr Kwabena Addo Gyamfi’s JNS Talent Centre is the cause of delays to CHRAJ.
“However, it is encouraging that CHRAJ is determined to issue a final decision soon,” Ablakwa captioned the post.
