Kunle Afolayan, the director, has revealed that some scenes of the second season of ‘Anikulapo’ will be shot in Ghana.
“Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre,” a six-part series produced by Afolayan, premiered on Netflix on March 1.
The mini-series, which was shot at the Kunle Afolayan Production (KAP) film village in Oyo State, was a sequel to ‘Anikulapo’, the award-winning 2022 film.
In a recent Position Through his Instagram page, Afolayan revealed his intention to shoot parts of the next season in Ghana.
The director also shared photos from the film’s recce location in Ghana.
Afolayan said the development is in collaboration with the Ghana National Film Authority.
“Anikulapo series new season. Recce location in Ghana in collaboration with @nationalfilmauthority,” he wrote.
In September 2022, Afolayan released “Anikulapo” as a one-part filmstarring Kunle Remi and Bimbo Ademoye as the lead cast.
‘Anikulapo’ tells the story of Saro, a young weaver, who is brought back to life by a mystical bird after being beaten to death for having an affair with Arolake, the Alaafin of his youngest wife Oyo.
“Rise of The Spectre” became the sequel to the film, which evolved into a series telling the story of Saro’s return from the dead. A dazed Saro is ordered by the guardians of the afterlife to complete a task he would have thought impossible.
Actors featured in the series include Sola Sobowale, Owobo Ogunde, Jide Kosoko, Taiwo Hassan, Gabriel Afolayan and Lateef Adedimeji.
Others are Layi Wasabi, Eyiyemi Afolayan, Ronke Oshodi-Oke, Moji Afolayan, Aisha Lawal, Uzee Usman, Adeniyi Johnson and Funky Mallam.
