New footage has revealed how Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bishouma set off an on-pitch outburst against Chelsea following the Blues’ poor 4-1 win.
Chelsea overcame their bitter rivals on Monday in a chaotic game, with Spurs reduced to nine men after red cards to Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogi.
The Blues eventually took full advantage of their two-man advantage as Nicolas Jackson completed a hat-trick of two stoppage-time goals after putting the visitors ahead in the 75th minute.
Tempers remained high after the game, which saw Tottenham’s unbeaten start to the Premier League end and Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino win on his return to his former club.
Footage revealed Bissuma had refused to shake Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher’s hand after the final whistle.
Gallagher then appeared to pull on the Mali international’s arm, leading the pair to square him near the halfway line.
The outburst led to Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp and Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella scrambling to separate the two players.
The skipper’s intervention could have saved Tottenham from losing another player, with Bissuma one yellow card away from a one-match ban.
Tottenham captain Son Heung-min then appeared to speak to Gallagher after the incident.
Bissuma’s frustration at the London derby defeat remained visible as he left the pitch.
The midfielder was seen angrily kicking a bag of balls as he walked down the tunnel after the match.
Predictably, Chelsea and Tottenham fans were divided on social media over Bissuma’s actions.
Blues fans labeled Bissouma a “kid”, while Spurs fans were delighted by the midfielder’s frustration at the loss.
Bissouma was also involved in one of several flashpoints during the match, with the midfielder shoving Levi Colwill in the first half following a clash between the Chelsea defender and Tottenham’s Pape Matar Sarr.
Spurs had taken the lead in the first half with Dejan Kulusevski’s deflected effort, before the match turned when Chelsea were awarded a penalty and Romero was sent off for a dangerous challenge on Enzo Fernandez.
Cole Palmer took the resulting penalty and left the game at half-time.
Udogi, who had escaped a red card in the first half for a brace on Raheem Sterling, was shown a second yellow in the early stages of the second period for another foul on the winger.
The two dismissals left Spurs facing an uphill battle to keep up, with Ange Postecoglou’s side adopting a remarkably high line.
Jackson eventually took advantage of Tottenham’s bold tactics to put Chelsea ahead, before adding two late goals to secure a 4-1 victory for the Blues.
Tottenham will look to bounce back from defeat in one of the Premier League’s most chaotic games of all time when they travel to Wolves on Saturday for a midday kick-off.
Chelsea face another test when Pochettino’s side host champions and league leaders Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
