The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr. Mustapha Abdul Hamid, has maintained that the Akufo-Addo government saved the country from the challenges faced during the previous government of John Mahama.
The former Information Minister, while acknowledging the existing challenges, stressed that Ghanaians are currently in a better position.
According to Dr. Hamid, since taking office in 2017, the government has implemented progressive policies that have greatly benefited the people.
In an interview with JoyNews on Sunday, November 26, Dr Hamid expressed confidence that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is performing well and will be recognized in the 2024 elections.
“Yes, we saved the country. There’s no question that the economy is facing challenges, but I’m saying we’ve taken this country beyond what it was. I always tell people, “Don’t worry.” There is no shaking. There’s time for discussion, and in an election year we’re going to debate this issue and justify all the rescues we’ve made for this country. ”
“We have saved more than 400,000 young people who without our policies would be left languishing on the streets of this country, now pursuing careers worthy of their lives. ” he said.
Dr. Mustapha Abdulhamid also added that the Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, is the best choice as Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate.
He said Dr Opoku Prempeh’s long association with the party and deep understanding of the party’s ideology and principles make him well suited for the role.
Islamic scholars emphasized that Dr. Opoku Prempeh has demonstrated competence in politics and brings important political value to the party, making him a compelling choice that cannot be overlooked.
“Candidates won’t ask my opinion, but if you ask me what my opinion is, with all the names being thrown around that give political value and political capital, I would say Matthew Opoku Prempeh. First, he is a political giant in our tradition. He has participated politically in our political tradition for many years.”
“I mean, he knows the party well, he knows the philosophy and principles of our party. The other thing is that he has achieved something since he entered political office. I served in the cabinet with him, and during the four years we were in the cabinet and he was in the Department of Education, he introduced and passed some of the most transformative legislation.”
