Mark Knowles, former No. 1 in the Pepperstone ATP Doubles Rankings, hosted the fourth edition of the Baha Mar Cup earlier this month in his native Bahamas. The 2023 edition of the event raised $120,000 for the Mark Knowles Children’s Tennis Initiative and the Baha Mar Resort Foundation.
Knowles was joined at the event by current ATP Tour players Austin Krajicek and Milos Raonic, former world No. 4 James Blake and WTA stars Victoria Azarenka, Jessica Pegula and Taylor Townsend. Other distinguished guests included world-renowned chef Marcus Samuelsson.
“I continue to be so grateful to my former colleagues who took time out of their busy schedules to come to the Bahamas and support my charity event, the Baha Mar Cup!” said Knowles, who is a player representative on the ATP board.
βIt allows us to continue to provide for those less fortunate with a particular focus on growing the sport of tennis in The Bahamas. Over the years, we have been able to support many young Bahamians throughout their youth, leading to many opportunities to study and compete at prestigious universities. Some of these same children have gone on to play professionally and represent the Bahamas in many international competitions. I am fortunate and determined to use my platform to bring hope to future generations.”
Knowles won 55 tour-level doubles titles in his career, including three men’s Grand Slam doubles titles with longtime partner Daniel Nestor. Knowles also won the 2007 Nitto ATP Finals title with Canadian Nestor.
