Arsenal have announced they will wear a special all-white kit for their FA Cup third round clash with Liverpool this Sunday.
The club, in partnership with kit suppliers adidas, are wearing the strip as part of their ‘No More Red’ campaign, which aims to support Arsenal’s long-standing work to help keep young people safe from knife crime and youth violence. .
The kit will not be for sale, but a bespoke shirt will be available to buy from Arsenal stores on January 29, with the retail price of the product (£30) being donated to various “No More Red” charity partners.
It is the third season in a row that Arsenal have worn the kit in the FA Cup, however this Sunday marks a special occasion as it is the first time they have worn it at home.
“We’ll sleep better if we can make the roads safer”
In his pre-match press conference, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta spoke about how important the campaign is.
“I think it’s a great initiative from the club,” Arteta said.
“I think so [it’s about] providing support and creating a safer environment with the power and ability we have to help people and transform parts of London.
“It’s a campaign that started three years ago and it’s already helped a lot of people and brought a lot of attention, so if we can make the roads safer around our city, especially for people with children, we’ll sleep better.”
“It’s a huge initiative that young people can feed off of”
Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice says No More Red can have a huge impact.
“When someone like me can say that they felt safe in a place and comfortable, it can bring more people to do that too,” she says.
“Things like what No More Red has done with the stadiums and those kinds of spots, it’s obviously a huge initiative that young people can feed off of.”
