The Minister of Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu paid a working visit to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. The visit is an hour-long inspection tour of some completed and ongoing project sites.
The Minister and his entourage were toured by some authorities of the hospital led by the Managing Director, Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah.
The first point of his invitation was the construction of a 101-bed Urology and Nephrology Center of Excellence, where he inspected the ongoing work at the site.
“The two-story Urology and Nephrology Center will have thirty-one (31) dialysis station suites for people with kidney diseases and seventy (70) beds for urogenital patients. The Center will also provide outpatient services and serve as a resource base for conducting research in urology and nephrology cases,β he said.
Freeman Kwame, the resident architect said the facility will help with kidney transplants, besides that by the end of the year, it will be completed for commissioning.
The Minister and his entourage then moved to a renovated and re-equipped fever unit, which has been used as a Treatment and Detention Centre, consisting of an isolation centre.
Hon. Agyeman-Manu said the center will open soon to show Ghanaians how the COVID-19 money was spent.
The inspection of construction and equipment of four hundred (400) beds Obstetrics and Gynecology Center in Korle Bu was the last leg of the invitation of the head of department.
He was informed about the work so far. The project, which was started by President Akufo-Addo, but has stalled due to lack of resources.
The Minister expressed his delight at the work that has been done so far and pledged his ministry’s readiness to help provide resources to procure some equipment that the hospital urgently needs. He also urged Korle Bu to keep up the good work.
