Mrs. Emma Ofori Agyemang, St. The Director General of the Ministry of Health assured the Directors of the ITIs for the speedy approval and implementation of the Conditions of Service for the ITIs. He disclosed this on March 31, 2023 on behalf of the Minister of Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman Manu in a keynote address delivered on his behalf during a three-day orientation and refresher program for managers at GRNMA Hostel, Korle-Bu.
The orientation: thematic, Managerial and Ethical Leadership was attended by 58 Directors from the length and breadth of the country. Facilitated by Dr. Peter Yeboah, Executive Director of the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG), Peter Obiri Yeboah Esq., Director of Human Resources, Ghana Health Service and Ms. Georgina Afua Sam, Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. The others were Nii Alasha Dixon, Senior Administrative Director, Ministry of Health, Ms. Monica Nkrumah, Immediate Past President of COHHETI and Director of Holy Family NMTC Berekum and Mr. Felix Nyante, Head of MoH’s HTIU.
Some of the topics discussed included CHAG, GHS, MoH Relationships and Trends. The others were Ethical Leadership in the Academic Field. Low hanging fruit and hotspots, community relations and key actors, bridging the theory practice gap and emotional intelligence in academia.
In his final speech on behalf of the Minister of Health, the Executive Director of CHAG, Dr. Peter Yeboah applauded the enhanced partnership that exists between the MoH and CHAG and encouraged the Directors to be more ethical and emotionally intelligent in providing academic leadership to the various HTIs noting that the Directors are the ones who train the middle management section to ensure the achievement of universal health coverage. The Directors were awarded with an honorary participation certificate.
