The Director of the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) at the University of Ghana, Professor Peter Quartey, is urging more universities to integrate technology into their teaching methods.
Professor Peter Quartey made this statement at the University of Ghana where over 100 laptops were distributed to students across the campus.
This initiative is part of the ongoing One Student One Laptop programme.
The initiative, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, aims to provide students with equal opportunities in terms of access to technology.
Speaking to JoyNews during the event, Professor Quartey said that this move is worth emulating to reinforce and ensure that students acquire skills relevant to the real world.

“We are adapting technology quite quickly in the country, but this sets the pace, this speeds up the process,” he said on Thursday, November 8.
Although he acknowledges that the use of technology in the country is gradually increasing, the Professor believes that more can be done.
He urged other institutions of higher learning to take a cue from the university’s intervention.
“Others can also benefit and take a cue from what we’re doing and also apply it to their institutions.”
