For many years, Ghana’s culture of preservation is nothing to be proud of, coupled with a complete lack of evidence, half-truths from some speakers, and a distorted history filled with misinformation.
For example, Osu Castle is one of the oldest structures in this country. Despite its dark history and the deeds that took place within its walls, the castle was used by missionaries, governors, monarchs, and even successive presidents of Ghana.
But today, the historic building has not been used for several years and is in dire decay and literally falling apart.
An image shared by former NDC deputy general secretary Koku Anyidoho showed a highly distorted environment in a room in the castle.
Osu Castle appears to be in serious disarray, with furniture used as the president’s important conference room destroyed, floors and doors broken, ceilings destroyed, and walls and tables infested with fungus. .
Kuni Anyidoho, who shared the image via the X platform on December 24, 2023, expressed regret over the current situation at Osu Castle.
“This is how the castle should be now. I remember these places and furniture well. So sad,” he wrote.
The castle served as the seat of various governments during the Fourth Republic until 2021.
This seems to be the current state of the castle. I remember these places and furniture very well. So sad😞 pic.twitter.com/yxNPvDovHO
