Roman Ridge Councilman Adam Yousif gave a press team a tour of the building and said, “This particular piece of land here is like a one-acre piece of land that used to have about one lot and one tenant. The tenant was a prison officer.”

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Land and Natural Resources, the current development taking place at the official residence of the late Justice Marhul-Saw is part of the Government Redevelopment Program (GRP).
“The GRP dates back to 1992 and since its inception, it has been widely implemented by successive governments in the Accra Metropolitan Region, particularly in Kanda, Cantonment, West Ridge and Roman Ridge. On May 14, 2018, the Cabinet of Ministers announced that , approved a revised plan for the GRP that includes other areas such as Airport Residential Area and Labone,” the statement said.
He added that the need for the GRP was necessitated by the need to find housing in Accra for the growing number of civil servants and civil servants.
The program is underpinned by the philosophy of optimizing prime government locations within old and dilapidated areas of Accra and other major cities in the country.
The objectives of the program are, among others:
- Achieve higher optimal density in prime locations and ensure efficient utilization of existing infrastructure.
- Contribute to the positive impact of growth in major cities by mitigating rapid horizontal sprawl.
- Achieve a significant increase in the total inventory of government and private residential real estate across the country.
- Improve the urban environment and neighborhood character of older residential areas in major cities.
