Republic Bank PLC has strengthened its commitment to healthcare by donating essential hospital equipment to the Osu Government Maternity Hospital in Osu, Greater Accra Region.
Items donated included a tent to provide shade during prenatal clinics, baby scales, state-of-the-art cribs, monitors, signs, oximeters and other equipment designed to improve the quality of care provided to expectant mothers and newborns at the Maternity Hospital. The donation is part of the Bank’s wider effort to support healthcare under its Power to Make a Difference (PMAD) Corporate Social Responsibility initiative and in line with its commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 3 United Nations (SDG-3). , Good Health and Wellbeing.
Presenting the figures on behalf of the Bank, Mr. Jacob Hobenu, Head of Corporate Banking, said that Republic Bank believes in global citizenship which translates into active participation and support of people’s well-being. “Our gesture to the Osu community is a testament to our unwavering commitment to this belief and we believe these items will enhance the maternity hospital’s ability to make the pregnancy and delivery journey of the mother and child enjoyable,” said Mr Hobenu .
Mr. Ray Klien, the Bank’s Chief Operating Officer, added that at Republic Bank, every staff member has the “Power to make a difference” in the lives of individuals and communities through the staff volunteering initiative the Bank has established . about seven (7) years ago to establish its position as “the Bank with a Heart”. He commended the team of the Corporate Banking Department for identifying and leading the cause for the Osu maternity hospital.
Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital, Mrs. Alice Akuoko Foli, the Chief Nursing Officer, expressed the appreciation of the facility to Republic Bank executives. He said the donation could not have come at a better time as the maternity hospital was in critical need of the donated items.
Assisting Mrs. Foli in receiving the items were Mrs. Faustina Quarshie, Deputy Director of Nursing and Mrs. Jocyelyn Twumaa Konadu, Senior Administrative Manager.
During the donation, executives from the Bank’s Corporate Banking Department were also present who contributed to the purchase of the items as part of their Staff Volunteering.
