To improve stroke treatment, hospitals have begun using time-limited, minimally damaging treatments.
A hypoperfusion stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is blocked or reduced by a blood clot.
Stroke has been noted as the most prevalent medical condition at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Treatment remains a challenge while experts research the latest treatments.
Medications and drugs previously used to treat strokes did not dissolve the blood clots, leaving patients with permanent disabilities.
Aggressive stroke thrombolysis involves administering clot-busting drugs and drugs that dissolve blood clots in the brain during acute ischemic stroke.
The Thrombolysis Service will incorporate thrombolysis therapy into routine stroke treatment at Komfo Anokye (KATH).
Speaking at the launch of the Thrombolysis Service, KATH consultant neurologist Dr Fred Stephen Sarfo said the new method was revolutionary.
