The Ghana Air Force has confirmed the death of Air Staff Sergeant Alma Nii Okai Mensah Alfred after the Independence Day Parade in Koforidua.
Alma served as a fill-in for the Air Force men’s detachment during the parade.
He collapsed during the parade and died at the Koforidua Government Hospital where he was being treated.

Alma’s body was taken to Accra Air Base.
In a statement, the Ghana Air Force expressed its deepest condolences to all those affected by this loss, especially the families of the deceased.
During the Independence Day parade, police officers with 66 Others collapsed.
They received immediate treatment from doctors stationed at the venue, and eight of them were taken to Eastern Regional Hospital for further treatment.
It is common for people to collapse from exhaustion during parades.
In Tamale, 72 people collapsed during a parade at Tamale Jubilee Park.
Yakubu Amin Abukari, Northern Regional Director of the Ghana Red Cross Society, said all 72 people were resuscitated as part of the paramedics tasked with providing first aid.

Those who collapsed included students, military personnel and soldiers, and were said to have suffered from severe dehydration.
There have been other dangerous incidents, including a soldier falling from a truck during an acrobatic exercise to celebrate Independence Day in 2023.
The soldier did not stay on the ground, but hurried to his feet and followed the slow-moving truck to join his colleagues.
The soldier was one of about 20 acrobats who wowed the audience with their impressive drills.
