President Akufo-Addo has issued a directive to cut electricity exports to neighboring countries due to intermittent power outages known as “damsors”.

He underlined the President’s commitment to address the prevailing power supply insecurity in the country.
“The president recognizes the needs of the nation more than making profits overseas,” he said.
Atta Akiya, who is also the Member of Parliament for Akim Abuakwa South, stressed the need to return electricity generated for export to the national grid to alleviate the ongoing electricity crisis.
Ghana has recently been plagued by instability in the power supply, causing disruption in various sectors and inconveniencing consumers.
Meanwhile, the country exports electricity to neighboring countries such as Togo, Benin, and Burkina Faso, so the decision to cut electricity exports is a preliminary step by the government to reduce the impact of the electricity crisis on the country’s economy and people. be.
According to Atta Akuya’s disclosure, the directive is expected to be implemented quickly with immediate steps to reroute electricity generated for export to the national grid.
“We can’t say, ‘Okay, let’s make a lot of money overseas and hurt the domestic economy.’ So in the meantime, everything that goes out is cut back, fed into the national grid, powered by electricity. “It’s going to be,” he told host Evans Mensah.
