KOICA and UNICEF partnered to donate a range of items to the Agency’s Center for Health Information Management (CHIM) of the Policy Planning Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate (PPMED). This donation is intended to support the CHPS plus Phase 2 project, which aims to benefit health facilities in certain targeted areas, boost productivity and strengthen primary healthcare in Ghana.
Mr. Donghyun Lee, Country Director of KOICA Ghana, commended the Ghana Health Service and the entire healthcare sector and pledged their continued support to the country’s healthcare system.
Dr. Juan Manuel Dewez, UNICEF Head of Health and Nutrition, mentioned a memorandum of understanding signed with KOICA in 2022 for the supply of items for the CHPS plus Phase 2 project that will benefit health facilities in the Upper East, North East and CHIM of PPMED. He disclosed that the first batch of items was delivered in 2023 to the Upper East and North East regions and the second batch is intended to strengthen CHIM’s capacity to manage data and improve service delivery at regional, regional and community levels. He also stated that UNICEF will continue to provide technical support and ensure timely delivery of state-of-the-art equipment and logistics for community health volunteers to be procured under the CHPS plus phase 2 project. In addition, the agency will continue to explore synergies to maximize the impact of the CHPS Plus Phase 2 project in the target areas.
Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, the Director General of the Service, commended the institutions for their donation and assured that the items would effectively serve their purpose for all recipients.
Items donated included a standby generator, Toyota pickup vehicles, air conditioners, tablets and phones, among other related supplies.
