In preparation for the survey, the organization sends out an airline satisfaction questionnaire that allows passengers to nominate any airline as their favorite in a number of categories including cabin service, ground service, products and amenities.
In 2024, more than 100 passengers of different nationalities responded to the survey covering more than 350 airlines.
7 top performing airlines in Africa
Although the survey featured the top 100 airlines worldwide, here are the top seven airlines in Africa that made the list:
- Ethiopian Airlines (36th worldwide)
- Royal Air Maroc (55th worldwide)
- South African Airways (69th worldwide)
- Kenya Airways (77th worldwide)
- RwandAir (81st worldwide)
- Air Mauritius (85th worldwide)
- Egyptair (88th worldwide)
Considered largely the Oscars of the airline industry, the Skytrac Air Awards also recognized the World’s Cleanest Airline and World’s Best Economy Class, both bagged by Cathay Pacific Airways.
Another award was the best cabin crew in the world which was won by Singapore Airlines. the best Business Class in the world from Qatar Airways. and the world’s best low-cost long-haul airline by Scoot.
For African airlines, Kenya Airways won Best Cabin Crew, while EgyptAir won the award for Most Improved Airline.
South African Airways also won the award for cleanest airline, Ethiopian Air won the award for best economy seats in Africa, while Kenya Airways won the award for best airline staff.
