The Communications Director/Spokesman for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign, Dennis Miracle Aboagye, said Mr Mahama gave vague responses to some of the questions asked.
This comes after the Leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr John Mahama, spoke with media personnel on Wednesday at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel.
The event was part of stakeholder interaction ahead of the 2024 elections.
In the conversation, dubbed the “Mahama Conversation”, the NDC presidential candidate revealed his vision for the country.
According to Aboagye, Mahama dodged some questions and did not give clear answers.
“There are some questions that he never answered, but that’s OK. For me, I don’t want to hold him to that level of responsibility,” he told JoyNews News File.
Aboagye also commended the media for raising important issues and holding Mahama to account for his statements despite the lack of follow-up questions.
According to him, additional questions should have been asked when Mr Mahama said he had launched free SHS and received praise from his opponent.
“In fairness to the viewers, there should have been a follow-up question. I saw you there. I saw your face. For a second, I realized I wanted a chance to ask him a question.”
On Dr Bawumia’s election strategy, Aboagye noted that Dr Bawumia would engage with the media in different formats and not necessarily in big venues like Kempinski.
“We don’t need to have big screens and teleprompters behind us like Kempinski does. Dr Bawumia will be speaking to the media on December 4. We are running a campaign and we have a strategy.”
“Once we are ready based on our strategy, timeline and calendar, we will come and do the same thing. It doesn’t necessarily have to be at Kempinski, it can be in any format,” he said.
