Musician and social commentator, Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known as A-Plus, was recently summoned by the Ghana Police for claiming to know the killers of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein Suare.
The invitation came after A-Plus claimed on social media that it had information related to the case.
In a press statement on Monday, July 15, police revealed that A-Plus had indicated they had further information that could aid in the ongoing investigation.
As a result, police said his invitation was crucial to the progress of the case, stressing the importance of any information that could help solve the investigation.
βThe Ghana Police Service has today, 15th July 2024, invited one Kwame Asare Obeng (aka A-Plus) who claimed on social media to have information regarding the incident, to assist in police investigations into the death of Ahmed Suare.β
βThe Cold Cases Unit, established in October 2021 under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to handle cases of this nature, is investigating the incident and is working closely with the family of the deceased.β
“The police are pleased to have indicated that Kwame Asare Obeng (A-Plus) has information that may aid in the ongoing investigation and have summoned him accordingly,” the statement added.

The undercover journalist was shot dead in January 2019 while returning home in Madina, near Accra.
Police say they are still searching for the killer and the motive for the murder remains unsolved.
