Sara Adwoa Safo, an incumbent National Assembly Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dome Kwabenya, has filed to run in the party’s constituency primaries to be held on January 27, 2024.
This will be her fourth appearance in Congress since 2012.
This was after the three-time MP submitted his nomination form to the Dome Kwabenya constituency executive in Hatoo on Friday. [December 22, 2023].
The nominations were received by the Electoral Commission Chairman Osei Forjour, who is also the Chairman of the Council of Elders of the district. Constituency Chairman Robert Osei Bonsu and Member of the Council of Elders, Monica Agyei.
As a brass band played, the sitting MP was accompanied by a large gathering of party members wearing campaign T-shirts and banners from the regional council office at Dome New Station to Haatu.
Safo, who became Dome Kwabenya MP in 2013, will be competing for the seat against Dr. Mike Okay Jr., CEO of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, and another candidate whose name has not yet been made public. It turns out.
In the 2019 parliamentary elections, Safo won 496 votes to Okuai’s 488, defeating him by just eight votes.
This constituency is Ghana’s largest constituency, with a voter population of 172,000, and is also the stronghold of the NPP.
forgive me
Immediately after filing his candidacy, Safo spoke to reporters to thank party supporters who took time out of their busy schedules to show their love for him and promised not to disappoint them.
She was optimistic that voters would vote for her “for continuity and experience.”
βI served as a member of Congress for 12 years, working humbly, diligently and dedicatedly. I cannot throw that experience away.
“I know that you have forgiven me for everything that has happened in the past year or year and a half, because it is human to err and it is God who forgives,” she said. I prayed.
She said that as a result of her meetings with party supporters since her return, the people had expressed their willingness to surprise all of Ghana on January 27, 2024.
βOn that day, the whole radar will be on Dome Kwabenya and they will look at how you will vote to exonerate your MP and show love. For service.
“They say the older the wine, the better it gets. So I’m your old wine,” she said.
please give me another chance
Mr Safo highlighted his achievements over the past 12 years since becoming the region’s MP, touting various achievements in the areas of education, sanitation, health and roads in his constituency.
She therefore appealed to the voters of her constituency to give her the necessary support to enable her to continue her good work in helping various communities achieve remarkable progress.
The lawmaker said many see her trip to the United States as a sign of her downfall following her prolonged absence from the constituency.
βSome Ghanaians think I have failed, but you are my love who lift me up and give me another chance to win,β she said.
